GILTRAP ENGINEERING WAS ESTABLISHED BY WILFRED GILTRAP IN OTOROHANGA.
1996
BECAME NEW ZEALAND'S VERY FIRST SOLIDWORDS CAD CUSTOMER, ADOPTING WHAT IS NOW A WORLD-LEADING ENGINEERING DESIGN SOFTWARE.
2001
WILFRED AND SHIRLEY GILTRAP SOLD THE BUSINESS TO BELINDA (DAUGHTER) AND CRAIG MULGREW.
2005
FORMED GILTRAP AG EQUIPMENT PTY LTD IN AUSTRALIA AND ESTABLISHED A DEDICATED SALES AND WAREHOUSE TEAM IN MELBOURNE.
DML EQUIPMENT WAS PURCHASED FROM TAUPO ENGINEERING LTD.
2006
GILTRAP RELEASED NEW ZEALAND'S VERY FIRST WIRELESS WEIGHING SYSTEM FEATURED IN THE NEW RF WAGON MODEL.
2007
PURCHASED OUR FIRST WELDING ROBOT TO DRIVE CONSISTENCY, QUALITY AND SCALABLE MANUFACTURING IN NEW ZEALAND.
2008
A NEW FACTORY EXPANSION PROJECT AT OTOROHANGA, AND THE MELBOURNE WAREHOUSE WAS INCREASED IN SIZE TO MATCH BUSINESS GROWTH.
2009
SPREADERS NZ LTD WAS PURCHASED FROM ERIC AND MORRIS BUCKTON.
2010
PARTNERED WITH GALLAGHER AS OUR DISTRIBUTOR FOR THE CHILEAN MARKET
2013
BUCKTON ENGINEERING WAS PURCHASED, MOOI-MEC APPOINTED AS OUR DISTRUBUTOR FOR SOUTH AFRICA.
2014
RELOCATED THE MELBOURNE OPERATIONS FROM A 1000 SQM WAREHOUSE TO A 3500 SQM FACILITY TO SUPPORT AUSTRALIAN GROWTH
2016
EXPANDED OUR OTOROHANGA PRODUCTION FACILITY BY 1500 SQM AND INVESTED IN A LASER CUTTER TO FURTHER BOOST HIGH QUALITY, NZ MADE PRODUCTS.

SECURED 'HARDOX IN MY BODY' ACCREDITATION FROM SSAB FOR GILTRAP'S CONSTRUCTION TRAILER RANGE.

GILTRAP ACCUIRED CLOUGH AGRICULTURE (TIMARU), AND ESTABLISHED SEED DRILL MANUFACTURER EXPORTING TO AUSTRALIA, IRELAND AND JAPAN WITH A LEGACY OF PREMIUM DRILL MANUFACTURING SINCE 1865.

ADDITIONAL WELDING ROBOTS PURCHASED FOR BOTH OTOROHANGA AND TIMARU FACTORIES.

RELEASE OF INDUSTRY FIRST CALIBRATION APP FOR USE WITH DUCNAN DRILLS.

PARTNERED WITH ELLIS EQUIPMENT AS OUR DISTRIBUTOR FOR THE US MARKET.

AN ADDITIONAL 1100 SQM WAS ADDED TO THE DUNCAN TIMARU PRODUCTION FACILITY TO ENABLE SCALE PRODUCTION OF FOLDING DRILLS.

LAUNCH OF G-MAX WAGON SERIES, GILTRAP'S FLAGSHIP PRODUCT, AS WELL AS THE NEW DUNCAN FOLDING TRIPLE DISC.

ADDITION OF ANOTHER WELDING ROBOT AT THE OTOROHANGA FACTORY, AND COMMISSIONED A LASER CUTTER INTO TIMARU TO DRIVE EFFICIENT, QUALITY NZ MADE PRODUCTION.

For more than 65 years Giltrap Ag has been finding new ways to make farmers’ lives easier, and with the acquisition of Clough Agriculture in 2018, our commitment to innovation in agricultural manufacturing is stronger than ever.

Our design process starts by listening to farmers: what’s working well, and what could be improved? Is there a new way to face an old challenge? Or an old way to face a new one? Farmers answers get us thinking, then these insights develop into design concepts. Prototypes of a new design begin to take shape and they’re refined by testing in the field, to see how theory holds up in practice. In addition to being smart, any innovation has to be pragmatic and dependable also.


Attention to detail

We sweat the small stuff so you won’t have to. Our painstaking diligence means you might not notice many of the design features - because they won’t ever play up. But when you do notice them, it’s for the right reasons.

Bespoke solutions can also be developed for specific issues - a challenge our engineers relish. And all of our machinery has optional add-ons so you can tailor them to your needs.

All Giltrap and Duncan products are made right here in New Zealand at our Otorohanga and Timaru manufacturing plants. We ensure each piece of kit lives up to the Giltrap reputation for strength, innovation, and legendary durability. Any components not made in New Zealand are sourced from quality global suppliers.
